How do I post bail for someone at Century Regional Detention Facility?

Los Angeles County jails, including CRDF, accept bail posted in cash, cashier’s checks, money orders, credit cards, or bail bonds. Bail can be posted 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Inmate Reception Center (IRC), which serves all Los Angeles County jails.

The IRC is located at:

Inmate Reception Center
450 Bauchet Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012
(213) 893-5875

How to post cash bail

You must pay the full bail amount exactly. After the case concludes, you can recover the cash minus an administrative fee. If the defendant misses required court appearances, the bail is forfeited.

How to post bail with a cashier’s check or money order

Cashier’s checks and money orders must be drawn on a California bank and made payable to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Be sure to include the inmate’s full name and booking number.
Release will not occur until the funds are verified, which may take some time depending on the day and hour.

How to pay bail with a bail bond

Bail bonds are the most common way to secure an inmate’s release. You pay a bail bondsman a non-refundable percentage of the total bail amount, usually up to 10%.

If the defendant attends all court appearances, you will not owe additional money. If they fail to appear, you may be required to pay the full bail amount to the bondsman. Always confirm that the bail bondsman you use is properly licensed.

Once bail is posted, processing generally takes about half an hour, and the inmate is released shortly after.

How do I look up an inmate’s information?

You can call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Information Center at (213) 473-6100 at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You will need to provide at least one of the following:

  • The inmate’s full name
  • Date of birth
  • Booking number

You will then receive details such as:

  • The inmate’s bail amount
  • Housing location
  • Next scheduled court date

How do I contact someone who is being held at Century Regional Detention Facility?

Inmates at CRDF cannot receive incoming calls. When booked, they are allowed one free outbound phone call. All further outgoing calls must be made using a prepaid calling card.

If you want to provide a calling card, you can either:

  • Send it in a commissary care package, or
  • Send money so the inmate can purchase a card through the commissary by mailing a California bank-drawn cashier’s check or money order to:

[Inmate’s full name and booking number]
P.O. Box 86164
Terminal Annex
Los Angeles, CA 90086-0164

You can also communicate with an inmate by regular mail or by visiting in person.
CRDF generally allows one in-person visit per day, on designated visiting days (usually Thursday through Sunday) during set hours. Check current visiting schedules before traveling, as they are subject to change.
