I am going to say this: I rarely write reviews on Yelp, but my experience with Robert is above and beyond amazing. He is honestly the best attorney in California. His experience, his knowledge, and the time he takes to listen to you — I don’t have any words to describe the genius he is. I highly recommend hiring him for any legal representation!

I thought I had done everything correctly after dealing with cybercrime and identity theft, only to be confronted with charges related to the very same things I had fought against. I was scared and horrified beyond belief. I did a ton of research and found Mr. Helfend, and my cousin, who is a lawyer, said hire this guy.

For six months I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. Even though Mr Helfend offered me consolation of what could happen, what he was doing, who he was talking to, there are weird parts of your brain that take over. He was incredibly patient as time passed while the system almost failed me on an epic level. He dealt with the courts, forced my accusers to acknowledge the evidence I already had, and questioned them every step of the way when they tried to refute every little thing. In the end I was ultimately found innocent.

He is truly a saint among mortals with a passion for fighting for people who are innocent. If this site allowed a 10-star rating, I would give it.

I was living a nightmare situation involving cybercrime that I was a victim of. You think you do everything right and think you’re safe, only to have the person victimizing you pop up again and again. Long story short, I thought I had finally put everything to rest, but then I found a court summons in my mail charging me with identity theft and bank fraud.

I immediately searched for a lawyer, talked to a few of them, and went with Mr Robert Helfend. My cousin is a lawyer and had heard of him and spoke highly of him. My journey through the court system was unpredictable, frustrating, and terrifying. Time and again this man was a saint to me, let me know what he was doing every step of the way, and proved himself as such. He kept me from losing my mind. He is truly a saint among mortals, seriously knowledgeable and caring, and I will never forget the patience he showed me as I was trying to keep it together. He proved that I was innocent and got even more evidence to prove my accusers wrong.

Do I recommend this lawyer? Absolutely. He will work incredibly hard for you and then some.

I had an unfortunate encounter in a solicitation case and Robert did a truly masterful job of getting the case dismissed before it was even filed with the judge and then subsequently was successful at getting my record sealed, which is pretty challenging to do. These situations are tremendously stressful and I had a lot of questions given I had never previously been in trouble with the law. Robert did a wonderful job of walking me through all the steps and giving me confidence that this matter would go away. I had called around to a number of places initially and a lot of intake centers use scare tactics to get you to sign up with them, but Robert was calm, straightforward and transparent. Fast-forward 25 years, and no further brushes with the law; I was interested in exercising my 2nd Amendment right to purchase a firearm. Pursuing due diligence, I submitted a PFEC to the California DOJ. To my horror and dismay, I got a reply stating I was ineligible to purchase or possess. I quickly submitted an inquiry of my criminal record to the FBI and the results indicated no reason for the ineligible status. I then realized I found myself in a similar situation as 25 years ago. I needed an attorney.

You shouldn’t be surprised that my first thought was of Attorney Helfend. Thankfully, I found he was still practicing law in the area and I called to discuss my case. He quickly returned my call and we began strategizing a plan of attack. Admittedly, Attorney Helfend’s forte is criminal law, but it is his wisdom and calculating talent that provided a path to an excellent resolution of my 2nd Amendment status from ineligible to eligible with the California DOJ. Since then, I have successfully, legally, made 2 separate firearm purchases, with no issues whatsoever.

I was convicted with burglary and two strikes, 2 years in prison. I told Robert my case had to be dismissed or worst misdemeanor. Robert got me a minor trespassing misdemeanor and time served. Robert is a professional you can count on to defend you at best.

Robert Helfend represented my case from start to end. He literally drove out to meet with me in person several times and handled my case in a very professional manner in which he always told me the truth and what to expect. Since I have never broken any laws, this was my first offense. Robert Helfend was able to keep me out of prison and prolong the case enough for me to make proper arrangements. At the end I pleaded guilty and instead of serving years of prison time, I was given one year of in-house jail, restitution payments, and probation, and later Robert represented me again for my pen code 1203.4 and got my sentence reduced from felony to misdemeanor.
