Los Angeles Sex Crimes Investigator Arrested For Rape
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy who investigates sex crimes faces charges of rape. According to prosecutors, the deputy faces charges for an on-duty assault of a 14 year old victim. The assault allegedly occurred in 2017.

Investigators filed the charges in Ventura County, where the attack took place. They have not said how the deputy knew the victim. The charges against him include forcible rape. They also include a special allegation of tying or binding a victim.

The investigation into the incident began in October, while the accused deputy was on a medical leave. The deputy assigned to cover his work learned of the allegations against him and began an investigation. That investigation led to the charges against him. He has entered a not guilty plea.

If convicted he faces as much as 19 years in state prison. The defendant had previously been accused of sexual battery, which occurred before he joined the sex crimes unit. The prosecutor filed no charges in that case. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office is also reviewing the cases in which the accused deputy testified. According to the DA’s office, the review includes nearly 1,000 cases.

The defendant will return to court in December on matters related to his case. He remains jailed in Ventura County in lieu of a $2 million bond.
