Sex Crimes Investigator Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault
A former Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputy pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving a 15-year-old victim.

The detective, a 46-year-old Agoura Hills man, admitted molesting the victim while investigating her assault claim. Prosecutors initially charged the man with forcible rape. He pleaded guilty to child molestation of a minor. Investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department arrested the man last November. The assault took place in Ventura County the previous year.

As part of a plea agreement, the man will face a 3-year sentence when he returns to court on August 8.

Agoura sex crimes attorney

When you face sexual offense charges, hire an experienced sex crimes attorney like Robert Helfend. Mr. Helfend has 35 years of experience in criminal defense. He takes sex offense cases in Los Angeles County and throughout Southern California.

Sex offense convictions aren’t like other convictions. When you finish your sentence, you typically get to go on with your life. With a sex offense conviction, you’ll likely need to register as a sex offender, often for life. Your SRO status will follow you around wherever you go, even if you move out of state. Local law enforcement will perform periodic “compliance” checks to ensure that your registration information is correct. If you fail to keep your information correct, you could return to jail or face other sanctions.

Sex offender registration status can also impact where you can live and work. In many cases, registered sex offenders can’t find gainful employment or adequate housing, even after they’ve finished their sentence.

When you’re facing charges for sex offenses, your best defense is an engaged, aggressive criminal defense attorney who will fight for you. Unlike some defense attorneys, Mr. Helfend does not shy away from sex crimes cases. He will defend you and your freedom aggressively in court.

Don’t rely on an inexperienced attorney, and don’t assume that there’s nothing you can do to help your case. Contact Robert Helfend or call toll-free at (800) 834-6434, (310) 456-3317, (818) 591-2809 or (805) 273- 5611 for an immediate consultation on your Los Angeles County sex crimes case.
