A former probationary officer with the Upland Police Department faces sex crimes charges after allegedly assaulting an acquaintance.
The man, a Rowland Heights resident, faces one felony count of sexual battery by restraint, assault with intent to commit a sex crime, and dissuading a witness. According to investigators, the man asked his former girlfriend to meet him in his car. During the meeting, the man allegedly sexually assaulted the woman.
The woman reported the incident and the Upland Police Department released the officer from duty. Authorities took the former officer into custody on a $200,000 bail following a court appearance but have since released him.
He is scheduled to return to court on March 5 for matters related to this case.
