Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives arrested two men on suspicion of burglary after observing them breaking into an El Pollo Loco restaurant in Stanton. The pair had earlier cased an El Pollo Loco in Westminster, but did not commit a burglary there because they were interrupted by a maintenance worker. Kevin Henry, 32, and Travis Laguisan, 41, were stopped and arrested after police found the stolen cash and other evidence.
Burglary crew suspected in at least 27 similar incidents
After the initial arrests, detectives arrested a third man, Jason Henry, 34, at a home in Westminster. Detectives there recovered additional evidence related to the burglary ring. Using evidence from earlier burglary incidents, detectives from the Los Angeles County Burglary Robbery Task Force surveilled the men, believing they were connected to a string of burglaries involving 27 El Pollo Loco restaurants in Southern California over the last three months.
According to detectives, the restaurants lost more than $225,000 in cash and property damage. The group targeted restaurants in Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County and Ventura County. Police believe that additional accomplices may have been involved in some of the burglary incidents.
