A former Los Angeles County probation officer who was convicted in insurance fraud scheme in 2014 has been accused of defrauding another insurance company. Robyn Palmer, 30, of Long Beach, was convicted in 2014 of 14 felonies, including insurance fraud, forgery and grand theft after filing fraudulent insurance claims with Allstate Insurance Co. In that case, Palmer was sentenced to 5 years’ probation and ordered to reimburse the insurance company about $31,000.
Insurance fraud suspected following irregularities in claim
Following Palmer’s conviction, AFLAC, a second insurance company, reported to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office that it noted irregularities in Palmer’s insurance claim with that company. AFLAC reported that had made disability payments of $24,000 to Palmer while she was on probation in the Allstate Insurance matter. Following an investigation by the California Department of Insurance, Palmer was re-arrested and is being held on $150,000 bond.
