Fraud Charge For Pacoima Recycling Operator
Fraud Charge For Pacoima Recycling Operator
California authorities have arrested eleven people suspected of recycling fraud. Among those facing charges is the operator of a Pacoima recycling center.

According to the California Department of Justice, the suspects imported empty beverage containers from neighboring states. The suspects then collected more than $2M in funds from CalRecycle. Most of the out-of-state containers came from Nevada and Arizona. Neither state has a deposit law.

Following a four-month investigation that involved 15 recycling centers, CDOJ agents arrested 11 people. They now face felony recycling fraud, conspiracy, and grand theft charges. If convicted, they could spend between 6 months and 3 years in prison.
