Embezzlement Charge for La Crescenta Woman
Embezzlement Charge for La Crescenta Woman
A La Crescenta woman pleaded guilty to embezzlement, after stealing about $2 million from two LA-area businesses. Claudia Alvarez Calderon, 45, used false identities and identities of former employees to collect wages and reimbursements from two companies involved in the production and packaging of earrings and pierced earring equipment.

Calderon collected as much as $28,000 per month in fraudulent wages, using at least four different identities. The funds were deposited into an account owned by Calderon. Calderon operated the scam for about a decade by entering false information into a computer system that issued payroll and reimbursement checks from the companies. Calderon used the money to fund a lavish lifestyle, and made trips to Hawaii and Europe, a second home in Florida, cosmetic surgery and other luxury items. She faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison.
