DUI crash results in 2nd-degree murder conviction
A former elementary school principal faces up to life in prison for a DUI crash that killed a Lancaster woman.

According to witnesses, the principal crossed the center line while driving near Palmdale. She struck a 2010 Mazda head-on. The driver, 29-year-old Jessica Ordaz, died at the scene. First responders took the DUI driver, who suffered moderate injuries in the crash, to the hospital. She has been in custody since the crash, which took place on November 15, 2018.

With convictions for second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, the woman faces a sentence of 15 years-to-life in prison. She will return to court on February 20 for sentencing.
