DUI Charge for West Covina Councilman
DUI Charge for West Covina Councilman
West Covina councilman Mike Spence was accused of DUI following a single vehicle crash last month. Witnesses said that Spence appeared to be under the influence when he was transported from the scene.

Following the crash, Spence was cited for drunk driving, and authorities are waiting for the results of toxicology tests to determine the source of Spence’s intoxication. Following the accident, Spence said he could not remember what happened. Spence suffered significant injuries to his back, hip and leg, which required two surgeries to repair. He will not return to his council duties until September. Spence was elected to the council in 2013. He has admitted to having had past problems with alcohol, but says he does not recall ever having driven drunk.

A DUI lawyer you can count on

DUI charges in California result in serious consequences, even as a first offense. A drunk driving arrest results in the immediate suspension of your driving privileges. This is an administrative action taken by the DMV, separately from any action taken by the Court. Additional penalties can include jail, fines, court-ordered treatment and testing, driver re-education, modification of your vehicle, and the loss of driving privileges. This doesn’t describe the complete range of legal remedies available to the Court, and doesn’t take into account the cost of your defense, nor the increased cost of insurance – if you can be insured.

He will always work immediately to get the charges against you reduced or dropped. When that’s not possible, he will work to bring about the best possible outcome for your case. In most cases, imprisonment (even in the County jail) isn’t in anyone’s best interest.
