DA mulls sex crimes charges against Hollywood elites
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office is considering a request by Beverly Hills police to seek sex crimes charges against Harvey Weinstein and James Toback. According to multiple news sources, Beverly Hills police concluded their investigations into two sexual assault complaints against the producer. The DA’s office is also reviewing five sexual assault complaints against writer/director James Toback. Those requests involve three cases from Beverly Hills in addition to two cases from Los Angeles.

The investigations stemmed from separate sexual assault or sexual harassment accusations against the two men by nearly 400 women. Six women also filed a class action lawsuit against Weinstein in December. Police agencies in New York, Los Angeles and London confirmed that they are investigating sexual assault claims against Weinstein. Through his attorneys, Weinstein denied the allegations against him. He also maintains that the encounters at the center of the complaints were consensual.

The District Attorney’s Office acknowledged that they received the results of the investigations. The DA has not yet made a decision about whether to seek criminal charges against either Weinstein or Toback.

When you face allegations of sexual assault or other criminal sexual conduct, hire an experienced sex crimes lawyer like Robert Helfend. Mr. Helfend has nearly 35 years of criminal courtroom defense experience and will fight aggressively for your rights and freedom.

The current climate regarding sexual assault allegations is challenging. Many people consider an allegation as good as a conviction. In the workplace, such allegations can also inflict serious, lasting damage on your career – even if they are later proven false.

Conviction for sexual offenses can lead to incarceration and lifetime sex offender registration requirements. Registry can also make it difficult to find appropriate employment or housing, long after you’ve completed your sentence.

Don’t settle for inexperienced attorneys, or ones who won’t fight aggressively for you. Contact Robert Helfend or call toll-free at (800) 834-6434, (310) 456-3317, (818) 591-2809 or (805) 273-5611 for an immediate consultation on your Los Angeles County sex crimes case.
