Earlier this month, a Los Angeles man was charged with assault in connection with an incident involving a Metro bus driver, who is a Sikh. KC Tard, Jr., 34, of Los Angeles is charged with one count of battery on a transit worker.

According to the victim, Tard accused him of being a terrorist and a suicide bomber who hijacking the bus. He also shouted racial slurs. The driver dropped Tard off at an intersection on the route, but Tard later returned to the bus and struck the driver in the face while he was driving in traffic. The driver was able to maintain control of the bus during the assault. Tard fled the scene, and passengers called police to report the incident. The driver suffered minor injuries during the assault and was treated and released at a local hospital. He subsequently developed an eye infection from the injuries sustained in the attack and was off work for several weeks.
